I'm spending the summer in Maine, because even though I love New Orleans and the south, I don't love heat and humidity. Naturally, I am branching out to all the iconic things that Maine has to offer, beginning with lobsters! The lobster quilt is the Maine version of the crawfish quilt, so it was a lot of fun to create, including lobster bibs, crackers, and melted butter.

Next up, loons! I have a great picture that I took on Molasses Pond of 5 loons swimming together. My new challenge is to change that photo into a quilt and pattern.

Today I thought I'd give you a look at what the inside pages look like. Each number page has a color theme, and a large bright number. You can count the pelicans, count the squares, and look for the brown color in the quilt right next to it.  You could even do math!  2 + 8 = 10 What can I say? I'm a quilter and an engineer!

My timing is impeccable! I finally decided to publish my children's counting book, worked out patterns for four of the quilts, and what day do I get my books from the publishers? Yes, April 1st, right in the midst of the corona virus pandemic!

GSQA quilt show in New Orleans where I was going to start off my business venture - cancelled! Stores where I was going to sell my book - closed! My sparkling saleswoman personality - distanced! So here I am, off to a very slow start,  so I am asking you, my Facebook friends, to help. 

If you have a grandchild or know any child in the picture book and learning-to-count stage, if you love quilts, if you love New Orleans, if you love me... please buy a book or pass on the word to others that my book is for sale and I will soldier on until we can all come outside and be social, at whatever distance that will be.  And if you are home, looking for a sewing project, I have patterns for you. Crawfish are in season, and there's always another Mardi Gras coming!

In the meantime, I am not busy quilting; I am busy making masks with my quilting fabric! Stay healthy!
